1. The 90-day checklist
Before you fly
- Blocked account opened and funded (€11,904 for 12 months)
- Health/travel insurance from your arrival day
- Visa in your passport; check the end date
- Accommodation with a landlord who will sign the confirmation
- Anmeldung appointment booked if your city allows it
- Money for the first month (the first payout can take a few weeks)
First two weeks
- Landlord confirmation (Wohnungsgeberbestätigung) received
- Address registered (Anmeldung): legal deadline 14 days after moving in
- SIM card
- Bank account opened; blocked-account payouts activated
First month
- Health insurance reported to the university
- Enrolment complete; enrolment certificate saved
- Broadcasting fee registered or linked to your flatmate's number
By month three
- Residence permit applied for before your visa expires
- Tax ID letter received (request again if not)
- Liability insurance decided
2. What to bring to each appointment
